Puppies "go-home" date!
Sydney and Banks puppies are going to be 8 weeks on April 13th! Which is excellent, as that falls right on an Easter weekend "pick up date". Many people have this weekend as a Holiday Weekend, an extra day off to enjoy your new puppy! Veterinarians also have a day off, and if your clinic is like mine, they DO NOT book routine visits on the Friday or Tuesday before/after the long weekend.
This is a reminder to new families to book your **Puppy Health** appointment with your veterinarian now(or very very soon). This is NOT a vaccine appointment, please be clear with your veterinarian! This is SIMPLY an appointment for your vet to clear the puppy of any concerning illness, to ensure puppy is healthy and gives you piece of mind that all due diligence has been done to ensure your puppy was properly cared for while in my care. It assures me that in the 3 days from leaving my home, and entering your home, no new concerns have developed, for contractual obligations on my part. Puppies can easily pick up parasites from parks and puddles, parvo from other friendly dogs and pet stores, among many other easily transmissible illnesses. I do everything in my power to ensure low/no contamination while in my care, no outside dogs come for visits, all dogs are properly vaccinated, and people visits are only as approved/necessary. Puppies are dewormed on a 4/6/8w schedule with Panacur. Dolpac is recommended by myself and my veterinary team for MDR1 affected dogs/puppies, please consult with your veterinarian on this topic. Please review the Dewormers/Flea and Tick meds that can affect MDR1 sensitive dogs/puppies prior to your vet recommending these insecticides. IF you are low risk (leash walks, short grass, in town) I recommend not using Flea/Tick insecticides, but for some this is not practical. Weighing your risk/benefit is important.
I have had one puppy get vaccines at this **HEALTH** appointment... PLEASE be clear with your vet, puppies will come with their first DHPP vaccine from me, between the 10th-14th of April.
THEY DO NOT NEED MORE VACCINES FOR AT LEAST 3weeks following that first DHPP vaccine. Regular vaccine schedule is
I do this one > 8w(1st dhpp),
you do these > 12w(dhpp booster)-16w(rabies)
Another important thing to consider is CHOCOLATE! Easter is notorious for chocolate consumption. Please be cautious with your new puppy.
Hoping everyone is doing well! I will send more photos today!
Talk soon,
Joce
