Crates and other fun things!
YAY! The website works! Woooo hooo - I'll make my first post ;)
Some people have been asking about - what crate would fit their new puppy best? Such a good question and there are SO many options!
For puppies I LOVE a good plastic crate, and I would recommend 2 sizes Med and Large(I would skip the small). Plastics are great because they contain messes, I brought home a puppy once who ended up picking up(or coming home with) an intestinal parasite, at the time I only had a wire crate. For cleaning purposes, it would have saved my floors and walls to have a plastic crate. Also, for your puppy plastic crates feel like a safe place, they give the puppy the feeling of being closed in and protected(which is great for peaceful sleep).
For puppy size you could do one of two things
get a small crate to fit the puppy at time of pick up, then upgrade to the "adult" size.
get the medium crate, which may be a bit big for your 8week old puppy, but will fit them longer, and then upgrade to the adult size *if needed. Some may suggest that the added room will make your puppy think they have room to potty in there. It's something to consider, but these puppies will understand the difference between a potty place and a home place, and accidents will really be just that, an accident.
So here are the 3 sizes that I like
What I'm calling "Adult" 400 Vari Kennel - https://www.amazon.ca/Petmate-Vari-Kennel-36-Inch-50-70-Pound/dp/B00DJRA0UQ/ref=sr_1_12?crid=3D36ZOMFB1V0I&keywords=petmate&qid=1646963392&sprefix=petmate%2Caps%2C97&sr=8-12&th=1
Medium (will seem "big" for your puppy) 200 Vari- https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0009H71HY/ref=emc_b_5_i?th=1
Sometimes I find this size is "ok" even for an adult for a short car ride, or 45ish/lbs females.
Small/8-16w(maybe a bit longer) puppy size - https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0002YOVHC/ref=emc_b_5_i?th=1
Wire crates are great too! I have LOTS of them lol
I would suggest that anything under 22" height will likely be a little snug especially for the boys.
Adult(full grown) - https://www.amazon.ca/MidWest-Folding-Protecting-Leak-Proof-Intermediate/dp/B00063MQLW/ref=sr_1_18?crid=1TCP3PLXPCOEM&keywords=tuff%2Bcrate&qid=1646965980&s=pet-supplies&sprefix=tuff%2Bcrate%2Cpets%2C88&sr=1-18&th=1 (I'm going to measure my crate and make sure that 27" height is enough.
Wire crates are slightly annoying in cars as they shake and rattle. Some dogs may prefer to see out the windows, but some may feel more relaxed with a cozy-er space, plastics can be nice for car rides in case of accidents or car sickness.
I like wire crates for my stable adults, but a monitored puppy would do OK in a wire crate too. Dogs who can see cats or other exciting things outside of the crate should probably be kept in a plastic crate.
Feel free to ask any questions! Hopefully I didn't ramble too much ;)
